Regardless of where you work, play, live, or visit across the prairies, STARS will be there for you on your worst day and ready to provide life-saving critical care to the next patient that needs it. On average, STARS flies 6 times per day across Alberta.

Today you can support STARS and be a part of their life-saving efforts in providing critical care to people in Calgary and across Alberta.  We’re hosting the Critical Care on the Air Radiothon from 6am to 6pm, presented by Peavy Mart.

Dollars raised through the radiothon will go towards operations in Alberta. It costs approximately 10.5 Million dollars per year for a base to stay operational. In Alberta there are bases in Calgary, Edmonton, & Grande Prairie.

Did you know:

  • In the recently completed 2020-2021 fiscal year, STARS flew 1,436 missions from the three Albertan bases.
  • On average, STARS flies 6 times per day across Alberta.
  • STARS was born out of necessity. Too many people living in rural areas were dying needlessly. People weren’t getting the care they needed fast enough. When the first helicopter took flight in 1985, it radically changed the way critical care was delivered.
  • Since 1985, STARS has responded to more than 45,000 emergencies, providing the prospect of a second chance to those who may not have had one otherwise.
  • STARS works alongside local firefighters, paramedics, law enforcement and, of course nurses, to ensure that every patient has a second chance at life.
  • STARS Air Ambulance is dedicated to providing a safe, rapid, highly specialized emergency medical transport system for the critically ill and injured, operating from six bases in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Alberta.
  • As a non-profit organization, STARS operates on a shared-funding model where costs are paid through government funding, community fundraising, individual donors and corporate support.
  • Regardless of where you work, play, live, or visit across the prairies, STARS will be there for you on your worst day and ready to provide life-saving critical care to the next patient that needs it.
