Amanda Kehler is an antique dealer from Manitoba. She bought a bunch of old papers for a dollar and amongst those papers was a letter written by World War I soldier Earl Sorel, almost 102 years ago.

Earl was a Canadian soldier in the 78th Battalion. The letter was postmarked May 1917 and addressed to the sister of a man who saved Earl’s life during the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

According to Amanda it didn’t take long to track down the family, in fact the response was overwhelming with media contacting her from all around the world.

She was able to track down four of Earl’s extended family with the help of a military contact and a man from BC who joined the search. Click here for more. (Photo: Prairie Pickers Cafe/Facebook)
