94% of us admit to wasting food, which turns out to be about 250 pounds of food per person, every single year! The average family wastes nearly a THIRD of the food because they either forget it’s in the fridge, don’t save leftovers or just wait too long to eat it. There are solutions though! Here are some ways you can save more of your food.
1. Organize your fridge. Keep older food near the front where you can see it and won’t forget about it. Cheese and yogurt will keep better on the top shelf. Fruits and veggies should go in the drawers at the bottom. And milk should be inside the fridge, not on the door.
2. Get creative with your recipes to use items before they go bad. Put fruit in smoothies, vegetables in soups, etc.
3. Move food to the freezer before it expires. Most foods are okay in the freezer and taste just fine once you thaw them out. (SimpleBites)
