Tuesday was National Voter Registration Day in the US, and Taylor Swift marked it by sharing an Instagram Story encouraging her fans to participate in this fall’s elections. “I’ve been so lucky to see so many of you guys at my US shows recently,” Swift wrote. “I’ve heard you raise your voices, and I know how powerful they are. Make sure you’re ready to use them in our elections this year!” As usual, they stepped up for her. Vote.org says 35,252 people newly registered to vote on Tuesday, marking a 23% jump from last year’s National Voter Registration Day.

There was also a 115% increase in 18-year-olds registering compared to last year. “Fun fact: after @taylorswift13 posted on Instagram today directing her followers to register to vote on @votedotorg, our site was averaging 13,000 users every 30 minutes,” Vote.org rep Nick Morrow tweeted. “13! Let’s just say her reputation for being a mastermind is very well-earned!”
