According to City of Calgary bylaws, the owners of property adjacent to sidewalks are responsible for clearing snow within 24 hours of the last snowfall. If it doesn’t happen, the person may be on the hook for a minimum of $150. A first-time offence can carry a fine as high as $250. A $500 fine could come with a second offence, $750 fine on the third offence, and each one after within a one year period. If you do see a sidewalk that may not have been cleared within 24 hours of a snowfall, you can call 311 to report the property or help out your neighbour and get your shovel! (Photo: WNDU)
