If you’re doing a little cleaning over the weekend, keep this in mind in case you’re actually making your home DIRTIER.
1. Using the same rag around the whole house. This just moves dirt and germs from one surface to the next.
2. Spraying cleaner directly on a surface. Spraying cleaner directly onto countertops, mirrors, or glass can cause a buildup of the cleaning solution, which can make dirt harder to remove and cause streaking.
3. Using a feather duster. Those tend to spread dust around rather than removing it.
4. Not cleaning your vacuum. If your vacuum filter hasn’t been changed or cleaned in a while, you’re vacuum won’t work as efficiently.
5. Putting the toilet brush back into its holder immediately. Moisture and germs from the toilet can get trapped in the container and stay on the brush.
6. Washing the floors first. If you do this before everything else, dust and crumbs will just fall and get the floor dirty again. Leave the floor for last. (Photo: Good Housekeeping)
