Mary Tyler Moore died yesterday at the age of 80…. Mary was most famous for “The Dick Van Dyke Show” and “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”, but she was also nominated for an Oscar for her role in the movie “Ordinary People”.

She truly was the first independent, modern career woman on TV!

Mary was quite sick when she passed, she died of cardiac arrest after getting pneumonia.

I love this story…..Mary wore capri pants instead of a dress on the show, and it actually caused quite a stir at the time.  She said, “I’ve seen all the other actresses and they’re always running the vacuum in these little flowered frocks with high heels on, and I don’t do that . . . I’ll dress on the show the way I do in real life.”

She turned the world on with her smile AND made young women believe they could have a career, friends and fun, ALL without being married. Amazing!
