2016 is on par to be the hottest year on record, with global temperatures even higher than the previous record-breaking temperatures in 2015. This is all according to an assessment by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) -the United Nation’s agency on weather, climate and water. Global temperatures for January to September 2016 have been about 0.88 degrees Celsius above the average for the 1961-1990 reference period, which is used by WMO as a baseline. (Photo: 123RF)
